Max Tennant

Chartered MCSI and Managing Director

I’ve seen the dire consequences that bad financial planning can cause. That’s why I set up Ifamax.

My Mum lost a lot because she put her money and trust into the wrong hands. That moment made me determined to help people like Mum, people who’d built their wealth through a lifetime of hard work, so that when their working days are over, they’d be set up to enjoy a comfortable retirement - one their hard work deserves.

I am a Chartered MCSI and I started working in finance in 1988. I’m also a regular conference speaker, and talk at events across Europe on subjects like socially responsible investing, practice management and how to provide a full delegation service to clients in a modern world.

In my spare time I play and coach water polo - if the body allows. I enjoy watching Bristol and England Rugby, and love seeing my children developing their passions. I have two very nutty Collies, and enjoy a good homemade curry, Parmigianino-Reggiano cheese and the occasional pint of Gem.

Ashton Chritchlow

Chartered Wealth Manager & Certified Financial Planner

It was at university in 2008, learning how the banking crisis was impacting the lives of real people, when I decided I wanted to be a financial planner. Getting to university was tough; my mum was just 16 when I was born, and money was tight throughout my childhood. So when I got to uni, I was determined to make it count. I graduated from the University of the West of England in 2008 with a degree in Economics, and soon after I met Max at Ifamax. We clicked straight away, and he offered me a job instantly.

When I started in September 2008, we had just 50 clients and £10 million assets under management. Today we have 200 clients and £150 million AUM. As I've worked here for so long, I know practically all our clients personally - something I really love about the job. I became a Certified Financial Planner at the age of 26, one of the youngest in the country at the time. I am also a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Outside of work you might find me at Ashton Gate watching Bristol City. I also like going out for a cappuccino and a bit of cake, Mexican food, documentaries and spending time with my young family.

Jamie Jacobs

Chartered Wealth Manager & Certified Financial Planner

I graduated from the University of the West of England in 2008 with a degree in Business Studies and then spent some time in SE Asia and Australia. Through my friendship with Ashton at Uni an opportunity soon arose to move into a house share with him in Bristol which I grabbed.

Following this I met Max a number of times and was impressed with his plans for the future, the business he was building and the increase in professionalism in the advice industry. Seeing Ashton develop with his career, and progression through professional qualifications, I was keen to do likewise. Thankfully Max asked me to join the Ifamax team soon after and I have since become both Chartered and Certified through the CISI.

Out of work you are likely to find me up on the Downs in Bristol kicking a ball about for Clifton St Vincent’s or following the misfortunes of Yeovil Town FC. I also enjoy the Office sitcom, festival season, Mr Brightside by The Killers and eating spicy food.

Kattrina Strothmann

Trainee Financial Planner

I was originally drawn to the financial field at a young age through discussions with a couple of family friends who worked in financial planning and stockbroking. Throughout my teens, I became increasingly interested in budgeting and investing. Ultimately, this drove me to pursue education in financial planning and I graduated college with a diploma in Financial Services in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. With aspirations to move abroad, I transferred to Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Australia to complete a degree in Economics.

Following university, I settled in England, looking to finally begin my career. The environment has always been important to me, and when I discovered that Ifamax was striving to be a leader in sustainable investing I immediately knew that this was where I wanted to be. I joined the Ifamax team in July 2018 and I am currently studying towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner while working alongside our advisers.

Outside work, I enjoy travelling, scuba diving & sharks, gardening (mostly fervently trying to keep my house plants alive), the odd cheeky glass of wine, and luring the neighbourhood cats over for a pet.

Gethin Richards

Trainee Financial Planner

In 2016 I graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Exploration and Resource Geology. Like many graduates, with little direction and a struggling job market I fell into technical sales. It was during this time, whilst providing support to Financial Adviser’s up and down the country I approached Ifamax with the aim to get into financial planning.

Having started in July 2018, I am now currently studying for a diploma in financial planning with the CII, whilst working alongside an experienced team of advisers. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to continually be learning and developing my skillsets, as well as genuinely help others with the advice we provide.

Away from work I enjoy keeping myself fit (and trying to get Jamie fit), getting together regularly with friends & family and planning my next adventure or place to travel.

Tim Hale

BA (Hons), MBA, Investment Committee

Having witnessed the mistakes made by institutional and retail investors over the course of my career at JP Morgan Asset Management, I decided to write a book called ‘Smarter Investing’. I love investing and working with clients, and I'm passionate about the social utility that good investing can bring. My key aims are to simplify investing and build belief in investors. And personally, I can’t think of anything better to read than a good piece of investment research!

I live in Devon, and I love my girls, rugby and beer - obviously in that order.

Tamzin Howard

Company Secretary & Compliance Officer

I enjoy all aspects of keeping a business running smoothly, while at the same time keeping the boys on their toes. I’ve qualified through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT, Level 3) and hold the Financial Planning Certificate.

Away from the office I love watching my kids grow into little people. I have two collies and I love exploring new places with them and my family. I love eating roast chicken with bread sauce and proper roast potatoes.
