Max Tennant

Chartered MCSI and Managing Director

I’ve seen the dire consequences that bad financial planning can cause. That’s why I set up Ifamax.

My mum lost a lot because she put her money and trust into the wrong hands. That moment made me determined to help people like Mum, people who’d built their wealth through a lifetime of hard work, so that when their working days are over, they’d be set up to enjoy a comfortable retirement - one their hard work deserves.

I am a Chartered MCSI and I started working in finance in 1988. I’m also a regular conference speaker, and talk at events across Europe on subjects like socially responsible investing, practice management and how to provide a full delegation service to clients in a modern world.

In my spare time I play and coach water polo - if the body allows. I enjoy watching Bristol and England Rugby, and love seeing my children developing their passions. I have two very nutty Collies, and enjoy a good homemade curry, Parmigianino-Reggiano cheese and the occasional pint of Gem.

Ashton Chritchlow

Chartered Wealth Manager & Certified Financial Planner

It was at university in 2008, learning how the banking crisis was impacting the lives of real people, when I decided I wanted to be a financial planner. Getting to university was tough; my mum was just 16 when I was born, and money was tight throughout my childhood. So when I got to uni, I was determined to make it count. I graduated from the University of the West of England in 2008 with a degree in Economics, and soon after I met Max at Ifamax. We clicked straight away, and he offered me a job instantly.

When I started in September 2008, we had just 50 clients and £10 million assets under management. Today we have 200 clients and £150 million AUM. And because I've been here for so long, I know practically all our clients personally - something I really love about the job. I became a Certified Financial Planner at the age of 26, one of the youngest in the country at the time.

Outside of work I enjoy sports, and follow Bristol City football club. I’m partial to a cup of tea, Mexican food, America, HBO television shows, going on holiday and gardening.

Jamie Jacobs

Certified Financial Planner

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2008, with no clear plan of what I was going to do next. I moved back to my parents house in Yeovil, working part-time in a sports shop while I figured out my next move. I knew Ashton from Uni, and fortunately a room became available in a house share he had with another friend in Bristol, so I moved in. I was really impressed with Ashton’s career, his ambition and progression through professional qualifications, and I was keen to do likewise.

Ashton introduced me to Max, and after a few conversations with him, he asked me to join the Ifamax team. I’ve since completed my Level 6 Diploma in Financial Planning through the CISI, and I'm also now a Certified Financial Planner.

I love football, and I support Clifton St Vincent’s and Yeovil Town – the Gary Johnson years were the best. I love music, especially Mr Brightside by The Killers. I also enjoy the Office sitcom, festival season and eating spicy food.

Tim Hale

BA (Hons), MBA, Investment Committee

Having witnessed the mistakes made by institutional and retail investors over the course of my career at JP Morgan Asset Management, I decided to write a book called ‘Smarter Investing’. I love investing and working with clients, and I'm passionate about the social utility that good investing can bring. My key aims are to simplify investing and build belief in investors. And personally, I can’t think of anything better to read than a good piece of investment research!

I live in Devon, and I love my girls, rugby and beer - obviously in that order.

Tamzin Howard

Company Secretary & Compliance Officer

I enjoy all aspects of keeping a business running smoothly, while at the same time keeping the boys on their toes. I’ve qualified through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT, Level 3) and hold the Financial Planning Certificate.

Away from the office I love watching my kids grow into little people. I have two collies and I love exploring new places with them and my family. I love eating roast chicken with bread sauce and proper roast potatoes.
